			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <a href="http://vermontyouthconservationcorps.cmail1.com/t/r/l/auruld/l/x">VYCC’s Online Holiday Auction</a> is a fun way to connect with supporters while raising funds for our  youth and conservation programs. All proceeds from the auction directly  support our efforts to inspire the state’s youth to become tomorrow’s  environmental stewards and community leaders.</p>
<p>The  auction will feature a wide assortment of items including gift  certificates, ski passes, museum memberships, weekend getaways, and much  more!</p>
<p>How you can help:</p>
<p>1.  Make a donation! With over 10,000 people visiting the auction website,  it is a great way to advertise. Donations can be anything from gift  certificates to canoes to donated services&#8230;..a bread-making class, a  financial consultancy, or a vacation rental. Donations are tax  deductible and a great way to show your support for the VYCC.</p>
<p>2.  Bid! Bidding will begin on November 26. Instead of elbowing your way  through “Black Friday” crowds, visit our Online Holiday Auction and do  your shopping from the comfort of your home. Every bid you make will  help support the VYCC’s effort to provide meaningful employment  opportunities to Vermont’s youth while completing high-priority  conservation work.</p>

<p>Our vision for this gathering is to highlight exciting initiatives that are happening in Vermont high schools with concerns to getting students involved in their community and the environment through problem solving, leadership development, hands on experiences, and teamwork.  Presenters will be from programs with a work-based, service learning, outdoor education, student empowerment focus.  Our hope is that given this networking opportunity, challenges and opportunities of running these programs are addressed, we each leave feeling reenergized as part of something greater, and that we set a foundation for future collaboration.  We are actively marketing this event to include the general public, school administrators, potential donors, and future program leaders.</p>

<p>15 minutes &#8211; Presentation, hitting on the following items:  Mission or teaching philosophy, brief history, who you serve, what makes your program unique, your vision for VT education in the 21st century</p>
<p>10 minutes  &#8211; The audience will ask probing questions and give positive comments, with no immediate response from the presenters, but the presenters write notes and generate ideas</p>
<p>5 minutes &#8211; Presenter thinks aloud and addresses a few of the probing questions and comments</p>
<p>5 minutes &#8211; The audience has the opportunity for final comments</p>
<p>This format enables every voice at the table to be heard, and frames the response in a forward looking manner.  We have adopted our practice from the Coalition of Essential Schools work.</p>

Directions: Take Rte 7 south through Manchester. 10 miles South of Manchester take 313 West.  Take a left to stay on 313 West. Take a Right onto Sandgate Road.  The crew will be greeting guests about one mile down Sandgate Road.<br />

Directions:  From rt 11, turn onto Main St in Peru.  Bear left Hapgood Pond Road, and then bear left again a few minutes later onto North Rd (there is a sign for Wings XC).  Turn left onto Mad Tom Notch Road (FR 21).    Take a right onto FR 58, Mad Tom Notch Rd.  Travel approx 10 minutes until you see a gate!<br />

Where:  At the crew campsite, off of Stony Brook Rd, Notown, VT<br />
Directions:  From Richmond:  89 South to Exit 3 for Bethel.  Turn right off the exit ramp.  Stay on rt 107, after bearing left at intersection in Bethel.  Continue for approx 10 – 15 minutes.  Turn left onto Stony Brook Rd.  Follow for 20 minutes.  You’ll see a gold Rav-4 on the left, near a foot bridge.  Campsite is through the meadow to the left.<br />

On Saturday, July 17 first session crews returned to the West Monitor Barn in Richmond for a final community circle up. The session was a great success with crews based throughout the state, from the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge in Swanton to the Appalachian Trail outside of Stockbridge. Thank you to all of our corps members, crew leaders, sponsors, partners, and VYCC staff who made the crews possible!</p>
<p>With one session finished, the next session is just around the corner! Our second session crews start this Saturday, July 24. If you have any questions about crew start up or would like to visit a second session crew, email info@vycc.org.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Saturday, July 17 is closure for first session Wilderness and Roving crews. Parents and guardians should plan to arrive at the West Monitor Barn (directions to the barn in Richmond, VT below) at 11am. Please do not come any earlier as all crews will be working hard to unpack their equipment, sharpen tools, and reorganize themselves! At 11am, we will gather for a last community circle up and then say our farewells. Friends and families can expect to leave by noon.</p>
<p>If you are interested in carpooling please leave a comment below, with your town of departure, either offering or asking for a ride.</p>

<p>Driving Directions to the West Monitor Barn in Richmond, VT:</p>
<p>If driving north on I-89, take exit 10 (Waterbury). From the exit ramp, turn left on Route 100 South (towards Waterbury). Route 100 will dead end in one mile. Turn right on Route 2 West. The West Monitor Barn is located on the right side of Route 2, one mile after Jonesville.</p>
<p>If driving south on I-89, take exit 11 (Richmond). From the exit ramp, turn right on Route 2 East (towards Richmond). The West Monitor Barn is located on the left side of Route 2, two miles after the light in the town of Richmond.</p>
