Meet Our Crew Leaders

This year’s Conservation Program is underway, and we have a talented group of Crew Leaders.  Some are returning after having worked past summers with the VYCC while many are new to the organization.  As a group, they are extremely well traveled, having visited every continent but Antarctica.  They are musicians, Star Wars fans, chefs, and students.  Most of all, they all love the outdoors and working with young people.  See their photos and bios here.

Crew Leaders arrived on May 28th with tremendous conservation knowledge, and they learned even more during their three-week training.  Crew Leaders immersed themselves in the VYCC Conservation Program as a way to gain the technical and soft skills needed to lead their crews.  For example, they participated in our daily educational program, WoRD, cooked meals, and spent eight rainy days on work and camp skills training.  They also completed driver training, engaged in workshops about community building, gender issues, trail theory, project management, and much more.
