Second Session Start Up 046

2nd Session Slideshow

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Thank you to all of our Crews who worked so hard over the last two months! Through the sweltering heat and torrential downpours, our Crews took it upon themselves to make a difference in the world. Collectively, we built foot bridges, restored natural areas, removed invasive species, improved erosion control systems, expanded trail networks, and helped make Vermont a more beautiful community!

If you find yourself missing the early mornings, dirt and grime, rock bars, and–above all–the passionate and amazing people, check out our Second Session slideshow from last Sunday’s closure:

National Parks: America’s Best Idea

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

The VYCC is excited to partner with Vermont Public Television to promote the premiere of Ken Burns’ new series, The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, on September 18, 2009. The idea of creating a National Park system is as uniquely American as the Declaration of Independence and just as radical: that the most special places in the nation should be preserved, not for royalty or the rich, but for everyone. Accompanying this 12-hour television event is a community engagement campaign intended to raise awareness and stewardship of Vermont’s public lands and to increase public use of these unique areas.
